Through research, we can answer questions, solve problems, and inform how we advocate for our community. To ensure we\u2019re able to accomplish these aims, we must first develop our research project and survey instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before launching your survey or sending it to the Strategic Analytics, Assessment &amp; Institutional Research Office (STAIR), use this checklist to determine where you are in the process of developing your research project. This checklist is an overview of the process for developing a research project for review by the STAIR Office. More detailed information on any of the steps can be found by clicking through to the linked page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phase 1: Planning your research project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>I have identified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Developing-Your-Research-Questions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my research topics and have developed specific research questions<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have identified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Identifying-and-Catering-to-your-Audience.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my audience for my findings and how I intend to use my data<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have determined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Developing-an-Analysis-Plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a plan to analyze my data and know the types of data I need to collect<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have identified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Identifying-your-Population-of-Interest.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my target population I will draw my sample from and have strategies for respondent recruitment<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phase 2: Developing your survey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>I have identified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Identifying-Existing-Items-and-Scales.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">items for my survey from previously validated\/used scales where possible<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have adapted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Survey-Writing-Best-Practices.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">or created new items using best practices for survey item development<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have made sure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Developing-a-Well-Organized-Survey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my survey is concise and well-organized<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Phase 3: Piloting and testing your survey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>I have had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Testing-and-Piloting-your-Survey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">at least one person not associated with my project read over my survey and provide feedback<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have pilot tested my survey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/stair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/95\/Testing-and-Piloting-your-Survey1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with at least 5 people and given them opportunities to provide feedback<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have incorporated feedback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/offices\/strategic-analytics\/www-content\/blogs.dir\/3\/files\/sites\/78\/2023\/11\/Testing-and-Piloting-your-Survey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from the previous steps into my survey<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-white-color has-dark-warm-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-97c7de3418a70c5ac9ed1ad8c4ac40fd is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-c385debf wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data Request<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a member of the Clark community, you may complete our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/clarku.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_bKsPKCMTaMUEuDI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Request<\/a>&nbsp;We ask that you give us as much advance notice as possible (i.e., 2\u20134 weeks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Clark community also can view the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.clarku.edu\/analytics-ir-files\/download\/factbook-2023\/\">Factbook<\/a> to answer common questions, such as: How many students have majored in my program over the past five years?
