Internship and OPT Information
MBA, MSF, and MSA students must complete a qualifying internship in order to graduate; these required internships are not eligible for academic credit. MSBA students are not required to complete an internship, but may complete an internship for credit if they wish. After receiving an internship offer, a student should follow these steps:
- Request approval in Handshake.
- Log into Handshake using Clark credentials.
- Click “Career Center”.
- Click “Experiences”.
- Click “Request an Experience”.
- Complete the form.
- Click the green “Request Experience” button.
- Upload offer letter on the next screen.
- Apply for CPT through the ISSO portal.
- For MSBA students only… contact academic advisor in SOM to register for internship course.
Wait to receive I-20 before starting the internship. ISSO cannot backdate CPT applications. International students may not legally work at an internship, even an unpaid internship, without a new I-20 authorizing CPT.
Clark GSOM issues an updated Academic Policies Manual each year. Current students are expected to follow the policies and rules that govern the students, faculty and staff at the School of Management. Please refer to this manual for information on academic integrity, health insurance, program and graduation requirements, career services, the grading system and more.
Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society comprises students and scholars from business programs accredited by the AACSB International. Each spring, Clark SOM celebrates the academic achievement of its top performing students with an induction ceremony and reception. Students from each of the SOM graduate programs are eligible for consideration. The deadline for determination of who will be inducted is during the Spring Semester after Module A grades are posted. Students must meet the following criteria:
- In final semester of degree program (or finished in the fall semester or previous summer).
- Registered for all their remaining courses.
- In good financial standing (zero account balance).
- Have a cumulative GPA in the top 20% for M.B.A, M.S. in Accounting, M.S. in Business Analytics, M.S. in Finance, or M.S. in Management degree, or in the top 10% for the undergraduate management major.
- Have no violations of academic integrity policies.
These students will be invited to join the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society. Students who are on this list for invitation will NOT have any incomplete grades and will have fulfilled all of the degree requirements for their program by the end of the semester.
Breaches of the University’s Graduate Student Code of Conduct will not be tolerated. Students are expected to know University policies regarding academic dishonesty (e.g., plagiarism, cheating).

SOM students may travel outside of the United States to gain hands-on experience addressing global business issues through one of Clark’s Global Programs described below. Students hoping to take part in one of these programs should first speak to their academic adviser.
Global Business Seminar
Global Business Seminar is an experiential course taught each spring semester at Clark’s Worcester campus. It includes a week-long trip to an international center of commerce, where students learn about business, economic and cultural environments in the country of study. While abroad, students are taught by Clark faculty, resident business executives, and guest lecturers. Site visits at select international companies may occur and help cohere the lectures, readings and discussions that precede the exciting and busy week abroad. Past Global Business Seminars have included trips to Norway, Amsterdam, Greece, Argentina, France, South Korea, and China. Please contact your academic adviser for more information and to determine your eligibility for the course.
Pantheon Sorbonne Exchange Program
Panthéon Sorbonne is the largest institution in France and is dedicated to the study of literature, languages, civilizations, arts, humanities and social sciences. The Clark SOM exchange program allows students in the MBA or Master’s in Management programs to study abroad for a semester or full year. There are two options, based on student interest and French language skills.
Interested students must pass entrance requirements. Tuition and fees are paid at the home university and are not required at the exchange university. Students participating in the exchange programs are responsible for funding their travel, accommodations and other expenses. Please see your academic adviser for more information and to determine your eligibility for the program.
Linnaeus University, Sweden
Take a course at the famous Linnaeus University in Sweden. Located in Växjö, Linneaus offers SOM students business courses in management and economics.
Interested students must meet certain requirements. Students participating in the exchange programs are responsible for any additional tuition or fees, travel, accommodations and other expenses. Please see your academic adviser for more information to determine your eligibility for the program.
The School of Management has been involved in initiatives surrounding Assurance of Learning (AOL) for a number of years. The purpose of our AOL initiatives is to conduct student learning assessment at the program level in all academic degree programs.
Learning outcomes assessment has been defined as “the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba and Banta, 1999).” AOL provides data to show faculty and those involved directly with teaching and managing the academic degree programs what is working and what can be improved. Learning assessment in SOM is conducted on a regular basis, with the goal of making continuous improvements in all academic programs.
The learning goals and assessment activities are mission driven and are aimed at improving student learning. AOL is a faculty led initiative, and learning assessment tools created and assessment conducted is done by SOM faculty. Learning assessment takes place mainly in the SOM classroom and is integrated into the academic curriculum. Program review committees comprised of faculty review and discuss the data our AOL initiatives provide on a regular basis, and incorporate the findings into program updates and improvements.
Assessment practices are conducted in the context of the college’s mission and assessment standards set by AACSB and NEASC.
