Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in research activities as early as their first year; graduate students are required to build a research portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-areas-of-research\">Areas of research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our faculty and doctoral student researchers cover wide range of psychology subfields, with dissertations focusing on relevant topics including the opioid crisis, LGBTQ+ issues, relationships, the experiences of black women, and toxic masculinity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-teal-background-color has-background is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div style=\"color:inherit\" class=\"eyebrow  has-text-align-left\">facilities<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The Frances L. Hiatt School of Psychology features laboratory space for all faculty and student research, including the Research Skills Room for data analysis and the Presentation Preparation Room.
