ClarkRIDE, formerly known as the Clark University Student Safety Escort Service, is a safety service intended to provide transportation to and from the Clark campus area by helping students explore the neighborhoods surrounding Clark in a safe and convenient manner.
Clark University continues to strive to provide safe transportation for students, faculty, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the newly named ClarkRIDE will operate under limited capacity throughout the remainder of the pandemic to ensure the safety of all drivers and passengers. Our vans are equipped with heavy plastic sheets to provide a barrier between the front and back of the interior. In addition, the driver will not be accompanied by a “rider” to keep passengers informed of their estimated time of arrival (ETA). To keep our drivers from having to pull over to make such calls, the University is hiring another dispatcher specifically to provide passengers with ETAs.
The primary function of ClarkRIDE is safety, and we ask for the campus community’s understanding as we navigate this semester with limited resources. We also ask that all passengers wear masks for the duration of their transport — from the time they enter the vans to when they leave. Failure to wear a mask will result in refusal of service.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Ashley Huntt, director of ClarkRIDE. Ashley has several years of experience working with us on ClarkRIDE’s previous incarnation, the Safety Escort Service. Her enthusiasm and passion for providing our community with a safe experience make her the perfect person for the job.
