SEVIS Fee Payment

Scholars arriving on a Clark University-sponsored J-1 visa are required to pay a SEVIS fee to the U.S. Government.  This non-refundable fee is different from the visa application fee.  You are able to pay the SEVIS fee after you receive your DS-2019.  Payment instructions will be sent to you along with your documents.  You may also refer to the government website  for additional instructions and information.

Pay the required SEVIS fee and be sure to print the receipt needed when you apply for your visa.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my visa is denied?

If you pay a SEVIS fee, but your visa application is denied, you may re-apply for a visa in the same category within 12 months following the notice of visa denial without having to repay the SEVIS fee. Keep the visa denial notice for your records.

Do F-2 and J-2 dependents have to pay the SEVIS fee?

No. Only the student applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa has to pay the SEVIS fee.

If I have already paid the SEVIS fee for one school and then decide to attend another, do I have to pay the fee again?

If you paid the fee using the SEVIS ID number of an institution you will not be attending, you will not have to pay the fee again. Bring the I-20s or DS-2019s from both schools and your SEVIS fee payment receipt, to the consulate or port-of-entry.

Where can I find help if I have a problem with the SEVIS I-901 fee payment process?
