Clark University has announced the appointment of Janice Culpepper \u201977 and Larry Roshfeld \u201980 to the Board of Trustees<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m pleased to welcome Janice and Larry to the board,\u201d said Chairman Roy DiNicola \u201990. \u201cJanice\u2019s accomplishments in global health and Larry\u2019s deep experience in business and technology add valuable perspective, and their voices will be essential as we continue to implement the transformation plan that ensures a strong, sustainable, and competitive future for Clark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clark President David Fithian said he looks forward to working with the newest trustees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClark is served immeasurably by the dedicated efforts of its trustees,\u201d Fithian said, \u201cand I deeply appreciate Janice and Larry\u2019s commitment of their time and talent to shape a better university.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janice Culpepper \u201977<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Culpepper, an Oklahoma native, majored in biology at Clark and earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry at Harvard Medical School. With a background in immunology, molecular biology, and parasitology, she led research teams in genomics and drug discovery at a series of biopharma companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2007 until her retirement in 2025, Culpepper served as senior program officer on the Malaria Program Strategy Team for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, spearheading efforts to develop new drugs for the prevention and treatment of malaria, especially among vulnerable populations, and attain the foundation\u2019s ultimate goal of one day eradicating the disease worldwide.\u00a0In 2015, Culpepper spoke with Clark Magazine<\/em><\/a> about her Gates Foundation work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a return to the board for Culpepper, who previously served as a Clark Trustee from 2006 to 2012. \u201cI like the path Clark is setting in terms of its transformation,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause I\u2019ve worked with many academic institutions over the years, and worked in industry for a long time, I have a lot of different viewpoints into the issues Clark is facing. I joined the board knowing the next four years are going to be pivotal, and I want to contribute however I can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Larry Roshfeld \u201980<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Roshfeld majored in chemistry at Clark, with concentrations in psychology, philosophy, and German literature, then earned his master\u2019s in counseling and consulting psychology from Harvard. He built a long career in executive management, from tech giants like Lotus and IBM to startups that he has helped create, build, and sell. Prior to retiring in 2025, Roshfeld served as co-founder and CEO of CodeHunter<\/a>, a groundbreaking enterprise cybersecurity platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His volunteer efforts include work with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Red Cross, and the Fisher House Foundation, where Roshfeld was honored as a \u201cFisher House Angel\u201d for his work with military families at Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs medical centers. He also created an informal group of more than 400 volunteers sending CARE Packages to troops deployed worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClark helped me develop a broad set of skills and interests that was the platform for my success,\u201d Roshfeld said. \u201cHaving been involved with many startups, I\u2019m experienced at asking challenging questions and identifying unconventional solutions.\u201d A scholarship student from a working-class family who followed a non-traditional career path after Clark, Roshfeld is particularly interested in issues of affordability and career development. \u201cSupporting Clark and Clark students is important for me, and I\u2019m passionate about paying it forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
