The Clark University Screen Studies program will welcome its longtime community partner, the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival<\/a> (MassIFF), to Razzo Hall tomorrow, April 3, for a screening of student films, beginning at 2:30 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the short films to be shown are those by students Bella Batts \u201926, Ricky Jessurun \u201927, and Zoe Slot \u201928, and by alumni Angel Rojas \u201925 and Zeke Fairley ’25 from the Clark Screen Studies program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rojas\u2019 experimental documentary, Los Tres Antifaces: The First Body<\/em><\/a>, had its world premiere at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth<\/a> (NFFTY) in Seattle last week. It tells the story of a family\u2019s diasporic journey from Peru to the United States, exploring themes of indigenous identity and memory through the medium of television. Rojas describes the film as a \u201cliving collage\u201d that was inspired by a visit to their parents\u2019 hometown of Nazca, Peru, in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rojas\u2019 film has also been accepted into \u00a0CineYouth<\/a>, the Chicago International Film Festival’s annual festival celebrating filmmakers 22 and younger from around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fairley\u2019s film, From the Cabin<\/a><\/em>, is a timely meditation on the perils of isolation, paranoia, and the corrosive influence of technology, which leave a young man pondering a desperate act of violence. \u201cWhat happens when you start believing everything you read on the internet and come to the conclusion that you are the solution to the things that are wrong with the world \u2014 that you can change it all with some big move?\u201d Fairley (pictured above) said in a ClarkU News profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
