Provost John Magee recently announced two exciting updates to the Clark University School of Business<\/a> that will amplify and enhance the School\u2019s already strong legacy of preparing students for lives and careers of consequence.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a message to the Clark community, Magee shared that Jing Zhang<\/a> has been formally appointed dean of the School of Business.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDean Zhang has been serving in an interim capacity since June of last year and in that time has demonstrated exceptional leadership, great partnership, and an innovative spirit in defining a future for the School of Business,\u201d Magee said. \u201cHer experience and standing within the School, and now 23 years at Clark, have proven to be a powerful combination, particularly as we continue to navigate a challenging higher education landscape. I have no doubt that the School is in the best possible hands with Dean Zhang at the helm and am grateful for her willingness to take on this critical role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magee also announced that the School of Business will be relocating from Carlson Hall to the Shaich Family Alumni and Student Engagement Center (ASEC) on Main Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhang notes that the move to ASEC provides a more modern, better-equipped location for the School of Business, better reflecting its high standards of academic programming and professional engagement. The School will move into its new home over the summer and be ready to welcome students there in the Fall 2026 semester, she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within modern classrooms, technology labs, meeting rooms, and engagement spaces, the School will empower its students through exceptional opportunities to learn from world-class faculty and connect with alumni, external clients and partners, and other key stakeholders in their professional networks. The spaces will, in effect, be used to simulate the world of work through technology-integrated learning, collaboration, and hands-on projects \u2014 for instance, by creating finance and FinTech innovation kiosks, developing analytics labs for real\u2011world data projects, or setting up consulting rooms for student teams working with local businesses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhang says she\u2019s excited that the Career Connections Center, the Dean of the College, and the Division of Student Success will continue to be located in the ASEC building, providing students with a seamless, comprehensive suite of services to support their academic and residential experiences as they develop and refine their professional pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are all about student success, especially career success,\u201d Zhang says. \u201cThat means giving students a good start to their careers, and opportunities to repivot, transform, and rise to new levels through programs that are current, relevant, and socially impactful.\u201d She cites the work students do with small-business owners in the Main South neighborhood \u2014 developing business and marketing plans, building their social media presence, and identifying avenues for growth \u2014 as a confident step into the real world of business. \u201cOur Small Business Development Center<\/a> and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center<\/a> will deepen their engagement within our surrounding neighborhoods and deliver business solutions that directly benefit the communities around us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the move, Zhang says, prospective students will rightly regard the School of Business as a forward-looking entity that will equip them with the tools and experience to be industry-proficient, technically adroit, and prepared to make an impact in their field of choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
