(From left to right) Brian Kane ’15, Alex Marshall ’16, Olivia Isom ’17 and Barbara Garcia ’18 repaint the railings outside the Jacob Hiatt Magnet School.\r\n\r\nOn Saturday, April 18, one hundred twenty Clark University students participated in service projects throughout the Worcester community during the annual “Just Do it Day.” Some students travelled to the Jacob Hiatt Magnet School and the YMCA and contributed their manpower to painting projects. Others spent their time preparing the Semillas de Vida garden at the Assumption Center or working in the Regional Environmental Council’s garden on Oread Street.\r\n\r\n

Athletes from the Clark’s women’s soccer and field hockey teams volunteered with the Regional Environmental Council. Pictured, from left to right, are Haley Connors ’17, Caitland Baxter ’18 and Megan Tighe ’17.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\nAfter the long New England winter, many students assisted with spring-cleaning projects. Those who volunteered at Newton Hill Park helped to clear trails that had long been covered in leaves and snow. Many volunteers stayed closer to Clark’s campus to clean up debris that accumulated on Main South’s streets as it was buried by seemingly constant snowfall. In total, the students collected and disposed of 47 bags of trash.\r\n\r\n“At a school where many students regularly volunteer in the community, Just Do It Day is special because it connects individuals who are passionate about making a difference and provides them with a chance to do just that,” said Ben Gardner ’12, coordinator of student programs and LEEP Center advisor.<\/p><\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
