Officially formed in 2002, Community Harvest Project, once known as Food for the Needy, grew out of a grassroots effort during the 1970s where farmers donated their vegetables to hunger relief organizations in the Boston area. At farms in North Grafton, thousands of volunteers come together every year to help plant, tend and harvest hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for their neighbors in need. Today, in Worcester County alone, over 99,000 people use hunger relief services through local food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.<\/p>\n
