The university continues to track the progress of Tropical Storm Henri. The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain, potential flooding, and high winds for Worcester County beginning late tonight (Saturday, Aug. 21) and lasting into Monday, Aug. 23 with the greatest impacts anticipated tomorrow (Sunday, Aug. 22). At this time, we are planning for normal operations. We will alert the community immediately of any effects on campus operations, including on-campus classes, dining services, and other functions. Stay tuned to social media and ClarkAlerts, the university’s emergency notification system<\/a>. You will receive notifications by text and email.<\/p>\n

We of course hope for minimal impact. Nonetheless, it is wise to be prepared.\n<\/p>\n

Power outages are possible. Be sure to fully charge cell phones, laptops, battery packs, and other devices. In the case of an outage, remember that no candles are permitted in university buildings, including residence halls.<\/li>\n

Plan to stay in your home\/residence hall and off roads during peak storm conditions.<\/li>\n

If we experience high winds, be mindful of your surroundings. Trees could weaken or fall and power lines could be downed.<\/li>\n
