Kiem\nAs a member of the University’s Senior Leadership Team and the Provost’s Management Group, Kiem will oversee efforts to build and maintain a vibrant, rich, engaging campus environment for our students. She will be responsible for all aspects of the student experience at Clark, including residential life and housing, new student orientation, health services, student activities, personal counseling, wellness, identity-based supports, and student conduct.<\/p>\n
“Kamala is a collaborative and innovative leader who has an inspiring vision for campus life at both the undergraduate and graduate level and who is a proven advocate for social justice in higher education,” Provost Royo said. “She will make an outstanding Associate Provost and Dean of Students and we are extremely fortunate to welcome her to the Clark community.”<\/p>\n
Since 2008, she has held several leadership positions within student affairs at Fairfield University, serving as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Engagement for the past six years. Early in her career at Fairfield and previously at Smith College, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kamala directed residence life activities.<\/p>\n
“Clark University is a very special place, with a student body that is active, engaged, and driven to make themselves and the world around them better,” said Kiem. “My highest aspiration in joining Clark is to create a fulfilling and holistic climate that inspires every student to discover themselves and find their calling — and for every student to feel love, define their purpose, and experience joy at Clark.”<\/p>\n
Kiem earned her bachelor’s degree at Florida International University; master’s in student affairs administration at Michigan State University; and master’s in social justice education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is pursuing her doctorate in higher education (expected in December, 2022) at the University of Massachusetts Boston.<\/p>\n
