Students to gain insights into career paths throughout the year<\/p>\n

The Career Connections Center<\/a> has launched its 2022–23 series of Career Exploration Weeks with “Internet, Software, and Technology.” The week of programming, Sept. 19 to 23, highlights career paths and opportunities in software engineering, information technology, product management, data science, game design, and more. Events include a panel discussion with students who have completed internships in tech fields and a presentation with Clark alumni working in the industry.<\/p>\n

The week kicked off on Monday with “Ask Me About My Career Journey,” a conversation with faculty from the Becker School of Design & Technology<\/a> and Nicholas Travis, director of Clark University Esports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thursday, Sept. 22, will feature a panel of Clark students who have completed internships with tech companies. Panelists will include Evelyne Diaz Araque ’21, MSIT ’23, who interned with Project Cody; Jack Rogerson ’23, Nasdaq; Caleb Sacks ’23, YouTube; Phoenix Pagan ’23, Google; Ethan Doyle ’24, Northrop Grumman; Joshua Ofosu-Amoani ’23, Google; and Larriyah Graham ’25, Amazon.<\/p>\n

Clark alumni who are now IT professionals will be on hand on Friday to share their experiences, along with tips on how to launch a successful career in tech. Presenters will include Sarwar Raza ’00, general manager and vice president at Red Hat; Betty Jean Jaskoviak ’83, former program manager at IBM; Teodor Nicola-Antoniu, ’19, currently pursuing an MBA and M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT; and Faaiz Masood ’20, software solutions analyst at Bamboo Rose.<\/p>\n

Additional events during the Internet, Software, and Technology Career Exploration Week include a presentation on Sept. 21 from Hack.Diversity<\/a>, a free career development program for Black, Latine\/x, or otherwise underrepresented tech talent. Students can apply for Hack. Diversity’s nine-month fellowship program to learn best practices for navigating tech teams and workplaces, practice job application and technical interview skills, gain industry exposure and network building, and access a paid summer internship.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the week will be a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament with Clark Esports on Saturday. Students are invited to come support and check out the team.<\/p>\n

In addition to Clark’s events, interested students can go to Handshake<\/a> to check out webinars held by companies including JP Morgan Chase, CVS Health, HubSpot, Google, and Paramount.<\/p>\n
