The 2025 AGU<\/a> Open Science Recognition Prize has been awarded to a team of researchers that includes four members of Clark\u2019s Center for Geospatial Analytics. The Prithvi-Geospatial AI Foundation Model Team was recognized for its \u201coutstanding work in advancing Open Science related to Earth and space science and its impact globally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team comprises 42 members from 12 institutions, including\u00a0four from the Clark\u00a0Center for Geospatial Analytics (Clark CGA): Hamed Alemohammad, director of the Clark\u00a0CGA and professor of geography; Rufai Balogun and Denys Godwin, doctoral students of geography and research assistants; Sam Khallaghi, Ph.D \u201924, a postdoctoral researcher; and\u00a0Yao-Ting Yao, a Clark CGA researcher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team released two large-scale AI foundation models trained on NASA\u2019s Harmonized Landsat Sentinel dataset, which reduces computational requirements and labeled-data needs for downstream tasks, broadening access to advanced AI capabilities for a diverse research community. Making the models openly available advances Earth science and exemplifies global collaboration, transparency, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
