{"id":1271,"date":"2026-05-01T18:26:26","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T18:26:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/human-resources\/?page_id=1271"},"modified":"2026-05-01T19:29:53","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T19:29:53","slug":"first-day-checklist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/human-resources\/learning-and-development\/manager-tools-and-resources\/manager-onboarding-guide\/first-day-checklist\/","title":{"rendered":"First Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns sidebar is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:45rem\">\n<p>The first day should focus on getting the employee set up, oriented, and introduced to the team without overloading the schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-arrival\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">Arrival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>Be available to meet the employee or assign someone who will be available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring the employee to their workspace and walk through the basics of the space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-getting-set-up\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">Getting set up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>Confirm access to computer and email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm access to shared drives, systems, and any tools needed immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-onecard-clark-id\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">OneCard (Clark ID)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The OneCard is used for identification and building access and should be completed early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>Assist the employee in obtaining their OneCard by walking them to the OneCard Office (Help Desk &#8211; Academic Commons, Plaza area) or guiding them through the Your First OneCard process <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/information-technology-services\/onecard-office\/\">online<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will need the employee Clark ID number, which is included in the HR new hire email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The OneCard Office will also program building access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-parking\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-checkmark-list\">\n<li>Direct the employee to the Campus Parking and Permits <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/offices\/university-police\/campus-parking-permits\/\">webpage<\/a>.
