Medallion set dates December 1933 and February 1936.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Postmark: <\/strong>August 12, 1936. Cancelled with a special 11th Olympiad 1936 Berlin postmark, featuring two swastikas, overlapping a German &#8220;Reich&#8221; stamp.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Historical background:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\"><span class=\"hgkelc\"><span lang=\"EN\">The Olympiastadion<\/span><\/span><span class=\"hgkelc\"><span lang=\"EN\"> (Olympic Stadium) was the centerpiece<\/span><\/span> of Reich Sports Field.\u00a0 Taking the symmetrical form of a large oval, it was built in the monumental Neoclassical style favored by the Nazis and was capable of holding 110,000 spectators. The structure was partially dug into the ground so that the field itself was some 40 feet (12 m) below ground level.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Today the stadium is part of the Olympiapark Berlin.
