Your&nbsp;FAFSA&nbsp;determines your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/complete-aid-process\/how-calculated#efc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Aid Index (SAI)<\/a>. Using your SAI, Clark University will determine your eligibility for Federal Direct Loans, including your loan amount and type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-your-nbsp-federal-direct-loan-nbsp-amount-determined-by-your-nbsp-fafsa\">Your&nbsp;Federal Direct Loan&nbsp;amount (determined by your&nbsp;FAFSA):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First-year students: up to $5,500\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Subsidized Loan Maximum: $3,500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sophomores: up to $6,500\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Subsidized Loan Maximum: $4,500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Juniors and seniors: up to $7,500\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Subsidized Loan Maximum: $5,500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-type-of-nbsp-federal-direct-loan-nbsp-you-will-receive-subsidized-or-unsubsidized\">The type of&nbsp;Federal Direct Loan&nbsp;you will receive (subsidized or unsubsidized):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subsidized:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interest is subsidized by the federal government, meaning it is paid for you while you are in school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will assume repayment of your loan six months after you cease to be enrolled at least half-time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unsubsidized:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The federal government does not pay interest on the unsubsidized portion of the loan while you are in school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be responsible for interest payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can choose either to (1) make the interest payments while you are in school or (2) allow the interest to accrue and be capitalized prior to repayment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Principal repayment does not begin until six months after you leave school or drop to less than half-time enrollment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be notified over the summer regarding these requirements.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Federal Direct PLUS Loan<\/summary>\n<p>The Federal Direct PLUS Loan is a Parent Loan for U.S. Undergraduate Students reserved for the parent of a dependent, undergraduate student. The lender is the federal government. The interest rate and origination fee is reset each July 1 for the upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"arrow-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/plus-app\/\">Apply for PLUS Loan<\/a><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Massachusetts No-Interest Student Loan<\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Offered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through Clark University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergraduate students who are residents of Massachusetts are eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Due to limited funding, this loan generally is awarded to upper class students with high financial need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your need is determined by your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FAFSA<\/a>&nbsp;and state funding. You must meet all eligibility criteria established by the Commonwealth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your loan amount depends on your need and Clark University\u2019s allocation from the
