She has been at Clark since 1990 and is affiliated with\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.clarku.edu\/departments\/womensstudies\/\">Women&#8217;s and Gender Studies<\/a><span>\u00a0and the concentration in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.clarku.edu\/departments\/lawandsociety\/\">Law and Society<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ewick&#8217;s principal research areas include deviance, law and social control. For the past few years, she has been studying legal consciousness among ordinary American citizens in order to identify how, when, and why people come to define their everyday disputes and troubles as potentially legal matters. She is currently studying narrative discourse and collective action.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Ewick has published three books:<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The Common Place of Law<\/em>;<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Social Science, Social Policy and Law;<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>and<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Law, Ideology and<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Consciousness<\/em>. She is currently writing a book on resistance to the Archdiocese of Boston among Catholic laity. She has also published articles in<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>American Journal of Sociology<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Gender and Society<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Law and Policy<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Law and<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Social Inquiry<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Law and Society Review<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The New England Law Journal<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>and<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Research in Law, Politics and Social Control<\/em>.
