She is also the Co-founding Co-Director of the Environmental Humanities at Clark University; former Barron Visiting Professor\u00a0of Environmental Humanities at the <a href=\"https:\/\/environment.princeton.edu\/\">High Meadows Environment Institute<\/a> at Princeton\u00a0University (2021-2022); and a former Senior Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center (2022).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Gerhardt is the author or editor of five books including, most recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucpress.edu\/book\/9780520304826\/sea-change\">Sea Change: An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean<\/a> (University of California Press, 2023) named one of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg25634180-600-the-best-popular-science-books-out-in-2023\/\">Best Popular Science Books of 2023<\/a>\u201d by the New Scientist, called \u201ca work of art\u201d by the LA Times\u00a0and winner of the 2025 Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE) Book\u00a0Award for Ecocriticism and the 2023 Society for Literature, Science and the Arts (SLSA)\u00a0Michelle Kendrick Book Award Book Award.<\/p>\n<p>She is Editor-in-Chief of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asle.org\/research-write\/isle-journal\/\">ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and the Environment<\/a>, the\u00a0quarterly journal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asle.org\/\">Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment (ASLE)<\/a>,\u00a0published by Oxford University Press. She has served on the Editorial Boards of the PMLA:\u00a0Publication of the Modern Languages Association, the Journal of Environmental Media and she\u00a0currently serves on the Editorial Board of Media Energy.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Gerhardt has been awarded grants by the Fulbright Commission, the National\u00a0Endowment for the Humanities, the Rachel Carson Center, the DAAD and the Newberry\u00a0Library.
