I attended The University of Southern Mississippi and graduated in 2016 with a degree in marine biology with a minor in chemistry. As an undergraduate, I worked in a Dr. Mohamed Elasri's lab researching virulence factors in Staphylococcus aureus. I received my PhD in marine biology with a focus on geomicrobiology at Texas A&M Univ. Corpus Christi in Dr. Brandi Kiel Reese’s lab. My dissertation research focused on microbial metabolisms and survival mechanisms in the marine subsurface. I have started a new position as a postdoctoral researcher at Clark University in Dr. Nathan Ahlgren’s lab working on marine Cyanobacteria and viral infection.
