Speaker<\/strong>: \u00a0Aleksandar Hemon\u00a0(Professor, of Creative Writing, Lewis Center for the Arts, Princeton University.) Hemon is most recently the author of The World and All That It Holds (2023). He is also the author of\u00a0The Lazarus Project, which was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award, and three collections of short stories:\u00a0The Question of Bruno; Nowhere Man,\u00a0which was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and\u00a0Love and Obstacles. His other works include two books of nonfiction,\u00a0My Parents: An Introduction\u00a0and\u00a0The Book of My Lives, the novel\u00a0The Making of Zombie Wars,\u00a0journalism, screenplays, and content for the Netflix original show\u00a0Sense8. Born in Sarajevo, Hemon visited Chicago in 1992, intending to stay for a matter of months. While he was there, Sarajevo came under siege, and he was unable to return home. Hemon wrote his first story in English in 1995. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2003 and a \u201cgenius grant\u201d from the MacArthur Foundation in 2004.<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will remember who did it, and who helped them get it done and we will tell and keep telling, even if no one wants to hear it. What is done, cannot be undone, but can be remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
