DESCRIPTION:The Goddard Library staff invite you to a conversation with Professor Benjamin Korstvedt\, facilitated by Professor Frances Tanzer. Dr. Korstvedt will discuss his new book\, Bruckner’s Fourth: The Biography of a Symphony (Oxford UP\, 2024)\, which “explores the creative development of this symphony” and “offers the first complete and coherent account of the compositional evolution of Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony.”\n\nWe encourage you to read the book using Goddard Library’s access to the eBook\, available to members of the Clark community.\n\nRead an interview with Professor Korstvedt from the fall 2024 issue of Clark University Magazine »\n\nBenjamin M. Korstvedt is the George N. and Selma U. Jeppson Professor of Music in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Clark University\, where he is also affiliated with the university’s programs in German Studies and Holocaust and Genocide Studies. He is President of the Bruckner Society of America and serves on the editorial board of the New Anton Bruckner Complete Edition and the advisory board of the Institute of Austrian and German Music Research. He has held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities\, IFK Vienna\, the Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies\, and the American Musicological Society\, among others.\n\nAbout Between the Lines:\n\nBetween the Lines is a Goddard Library speaker series aimed at an audience of the curious\, both within Clark and beyond. The purpose of the series is to celebrate Clark faculty scholarship through an intellectually accessible conversation with the author about their life and work. Prepare to engage and be inspired by the research and creative works of our university’s diverse and distinguished faculty.
