Fresh Check Day is a national program that aims to prevent suicide among college students by discussing mental health and teaching students how they can support peers who may be struggling with their mental health.
Red Square will be transformed into an expo-like, lively, social atmosphere to bring together interactive and educational booths combined with music, prizes, treats, and giveaways for those who participate. The booths feature peer-to-peer messaging in a positive, community-focused setting that reflects a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention with topics areas including specific mental health issues, high-risk populations, stigma reduction, positive coping and life skills, and more. By engaging the entire college community in this campuswide movement, students are reminded that they are not alone and that their mental health is valued just as much as their physical health or their academic standing.
Fresh Check Day, created by the Jordan Porco Foundation and sponsored at Clark by the Office of Wellness Education, is free to the Clark community. The planning and running of this event would not be possible without collaboration from various other campus departments at Clark, a large number of passionate student volunteers, and representatives of the Jordan Porco Foundation.
