Welcome to the fourth weekly recap of Clark Esports!
Almost every Clark team competed in collegiate play this week, so let’s break down all of it!
But first, we have two exciting events to announce! This Wednesday, October 19th, Clark will be holding its first Innovation in Action speaker event of the semester, focusing on the journey of Michael Wall, an esteemed Sports Attorney. If you are interested in business leadership and any potential cross-section with esports, head to Jefferson 218 at 1:30 this Wednesday!
Next, the Boston Uprising are hosting a Watch Party starting at 1 PM next Saturday in nearby Foxborough. A full day of fun is planned in the Helix Esports Center, including a 1v1 tournament!
League of Legends
Red (1-3): League of Legends Red fell short in their week four matchup against Limestone Esports, losing in consecutive games. While the games were both winnable, crucial team fights late didn’t swing our way, resulting in the defeat. They’ll look to bounce back against QU Tricolours this Wednesday.
Grey (1-2): League of Legends Grey fought hard against RMU Blue but ultimately fell in two games. The team came together with multiple emergency subs, but couldn’t quite pull out the victory. Next week, Grey will look to get back to .500 against UM-Flint.
Chromatic (3-1): The last undefeated league team suffered their first loss of the season last Wednesday, with Kings College getting the best of them. Despite this, Chromatic is in great position to make the NECC playoffs, as they’ll shoot for 4-1 against Trent Excalibur this Wednesday.
Obsidian (3-1): Clark Obsidian is playing some of their best league of legends as a team, coming away victorious against SUCO Scarlet in 2-0 fashion. They will similarly try to get to 4-1 in the eight-week season with a match against the Post University Eagles this week.
Pearl (0-4): League of Legends Pearl dropped their fourth game of the season to SUNY Potsdam. Despite the winless record, Pearl is making improvements as a collective team and hopes to show them off versus the NJCU Gothic Knights on Wednesday.
Overwatch 2
Red (0-0): Overwatch 2 Red had to reschedule their first match of the season but will have three in the upcoming week: against Seneca Esports, Newberry, and Fisher College JV, respectively.
Grey (1-0): Overwatch 2 Grey had an absolutely insane opening match to their transitioned season, defeating SNHU Pearl 3-2. Despite trading blows back and forth, Clark Grey remained calm, securing the victory in the eventual overtime. If you want to relive all the action, here’s the replay of the entire match! They’ll look to continue this momentum against Champlain Baja in week two.
Obsidian (0-0): Our inaugural Overwatch 2 Obsidian roster had to reschedule their first match as well, but will face off against SUCO Rouge and SUNY Potsdam in the upcoming week.
Chromatic (0-1): Overwatch 2 Chromatic opened up their campaign with a close match against SUNY Potsdam. Ultimately losing the fifth and final map, Chromatic will look to pick up their first win of the season as they have two matches this week.
Rocket League
Red (2-1): Rocket League Red picked up a victory via forfeit against UMass Black, as the battle of Massachusetts will have to wait another semester. However, a match with New England Tech is right around the corner, with our premier rocket league squad looking to go 3-1.
Grey (2-2): Grey is also starting to assert their dominance, picking up a 3-0 win against WPI. They held their opponents to a pitiful two goals the entire match, while Clark cruised to a sweep. Grey will face off against Thomas Esports in a game with lots of standings implications.
Valorant
Red (1-3): Valorant Red, unfortunately, had to forfeit their scheduled match, but look to bounce back this week against UTM Senior.Grey
(3-0): Valorant Grey has continued their undefeated success in this young season, picking up a three-map victory against Trent Excalibur Blue. It will be exciting to see what this team does come playoff time, as they face another test on Monday with Ohio Wesleyan Crimson coming to town.
Chromatic (3-1): Chromatic suffered their first loss of the season, losing to Buena Vista 0-2. Sometimes losses are a good wake-up call, however, as it gives you clear material to improve from. They’ll face off with the MSOE Raiders on Monday.
Apex Legends
Red: Our Apex Legends Red team is chugging along, as they finished 6th in last week’s games. This Thursday is the last week of groups before LCQs!
Rainbow Six
Red (3-1): Our Rainbow Six representatives got back on track last Tuesday with a victory over Defiance University. They’ll face off against the University of Nebraska Kearney sometime this week.
Hearthstone (1-1): Clark’s hearthstone squad kicked off their four-week season with a 3-2 victory over Michigan State University and a 2-3 defeat versus Colorado State University. They will look to build on that solid start each Monday and Thursday when they have additional matches.
And that’s all the action for the week!
