The <strong>Certificate in Inclusive Excellence and Leadership (CIEL)<\/strong> represents a thoughtful redesign of the former Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program (DICP), offering a more robust and practice-oriented approach to inclusive professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This revised certificate reflects a deeper, action-oriented commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across leadership and professional practice. The CIEL offers tools and insights needed to lead with purpose, empathy, and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group boxout has-light-warm-gray-background-color has-background fully online professional development experience designed for faculty, staff, administrators, and graduate students.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow id=\"h-reflection-requirement-all-participants\">Reflection Requirement (all participants)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All participants (both new and continuing) are required to submit a brief reflection essay following each session, and a comprehensive culminating reflection at the conclusion of the program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;New Participants<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p>Participants starting the new CIEL program in fall 2025 will fulfill the requirements of the program as described below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-enroll-in-the-ciel\">How to enroll in the CIEL?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Complete a short <a href=\"https:\/\/clarku.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_89clJdpz4vHkieG\">online form<\/a>. Upon receipt and review, you will be contacted with information about enrollment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-are-the-eligibility-requirements\">What are the eligibility requirements?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation in the CIEL program is open to members of the <strong>faculty, staff\/administration, and graduate student body at Clark University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Worcester State University<\/strong> designates up to <strong>15 participants<\/strong>\u2014including faculty, staff\/administration, and graduate students\u2014for each cohort. The <strong>next cohort begins in Fall 2026<\/strong>. Interested individuals from WSU should consult with the with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.edu\/inclusive-excellence-belonging-office\/\">WSU\u2019s Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All participants are expected to bring an <strong>open mind<\/strong>, a <strong>collaborative spirit<\/strong>, and a <strong>willingness to actively engage<\/strong> in the program\u2019s learning and innovation opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;Continuing or Returning DICP Participants<\/strong&gt;\">\n<p>Much of the structure of the DICP remains unchanged in the CIEL, i.e., # of required sessions, session length, modality. Changes with the CIEL include session options, a defined set of measurable outcomes to which the sessions align, reflection, and a leadership component\/requirement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants who continue from the last academic year will have flexibility in how the complete their program.&nbsp;Specifically,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CIEL required sessions will count as DICP \u201cCore\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DICP\u2019s \u201cPractical\u201d, \u201cIdentity-Based\u201d and \u201cElective\u201d options will count as \u201cElectives\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CIEL electives satisfy DICP electives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capstone is not required under the DICP, but participants may choose to take <em>Inclusive Leadershipby Design<\/em> (capstone) as their last session instead of submitting a DEI project proposal.&nbsp;Alternatively, complete 9 sessions and submit a Leaning Into Practice proposal.<ul><li>Participants who complete the capstone will earn a certificate completion for the \u201cCertificate in Inclusive Excellence and Leadership\u201d.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-learning-into-practice-proposal-only-for-continuing-dicp-participants-who-choose-this-option\">Learning Into Practice Proposal (only for continuing DICP participants who choose this option)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A &#8220;Learning into Practice&#8221; proposal should be directly relevant to the participant\u2019s department or academic discipline and demonstrate the application of knowledge gained through the program. This proposal serves as a bridge between theory and practice, enabling participants to implement their learning in their professional and educational environments\u2014both within their university and in broader contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it is not required to implement the project, it is highly encouraged and beneficial for achieving professional development goals and preparing you for the next steps in your career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-clarku-child-tab clarku__tab-panel\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"<strong&gt;All Participants<\/strong&gt;\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-do-i-register-sign-up-for-the-ciel-sessions\">How do I register (sign up) for the CIEL sessions?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/diversity-inclusion\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2025-2026-CIEL_Schedule.pdf\">session schedule<\/a>\u00a0to determine which ones you want to attend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete an <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/d5ujFPZFFQ\">online registration form<\/a>.
