Nearly 3 billion people play games worldwide, part of a $159 billion industry. But gaming isn’t only for entertainment. Becker students are also deeply involved in creating what we call serious games \u2014 for academic instruction, public education, or professional training. Becker School of Design & Technology students have designed games to simulate emergency room procedures for medical students and to coach elementary school students on how to avoid opioid use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the newest addition to Clark’s academic program, the Becker School of Design & Technology offers the students potential for an amplified and energized academic experience that will inspire them to embrace emerging opportunities in the 21st-century economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Becker School of Design & Technology, established in 2021 with the merging of the former Becker College\u2019s strengths in game design and interactive media with the heft of Clark University\u2019s liberal arts education and research capabilities. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The new Center was designed to promote collaboration and inspire interdisciplinary thinking and the development of innovative technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to classrooms and collaborative spaces, the building features a multimedia gallery, augmented reality\/virtual reality lab, video game library for researching interactive media and playing games, a makerspace, incubator space, robotics lab, and a data science lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
