“The Affected Landscape” is an exhibition bringing together four artists working within the medium of photography. Each uniquely investigates the landscape through their own kinetic vision, process, and technical invention. These profound artists find subject matter in varied locations that tap into their collective consciousness.

Join us for an opening reception in the Schiltkamp Gallery.

David Krooshof (Amsterdam), explores image-making through chronophotography, using sound to direct where to place his camera. Much of his subject matter is based on bat and bird patterns. The cadence captured in his photographs is synesthesia-like — seeing sound.

Pete Mauney (Tivoli, New York) makes photographs mostly in the darkness of night, recording with long exposures subject matter he finds in rural and suburban places. Some of his favorite subjects are fireflies in motion, star trails, and paths of planes.

Anne Rowland (Upperville, Virginia), is inspired by unlimited access to Google satellite maps as source material. By printing hundreds of screenshots, she assembles, alters, and transforms them into geometric shapes derived from landforms, vegetation, and resources.

Seth David Rubin (Kingston, New York) works on location in the woods, city, and suburbs throughout the Northeastern United States. Carrying with him a variety of fractured mirrors, Rubin strategically places each in front of his camera, mirroring back a deconstructed interpretation of the landscape to document.
