{"id":104,"date":"2020-01-27T14:16:02","date_gmt":"2020-01-27T19:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/departments\/pre-health\/?page_id=104"},"modified":"2022-09-07T11:10:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T15:10:44","slug":"application-process","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/departments\/prehealth\/applying\/application-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>AMCAS Application<\/h2>\n<p>Most of the accredited US medical schools use a centralized online application service (The American Medical College Application Service, <a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-medical-school\/applying-medical-school-process\/applying-medical-school-amcas\/\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMCAS<\/a>). (<a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-medical-school\/article\/participating-medical-schools-deadlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medical schools participating in AMCAS<\/a>.) Once you have completed the online application (i.e., fees paid and no errors or omissions on the application itself), and once your transcript(s) has been received by AMCAS, your application will be processed by AMCAS and forwarded to the medical schools you designate. Note that you must request that Clark&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.clarku.edu\/offices\/registrar\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Registrar&#8217;s Office<\/a>\u00a0send an official copy of your transcript so that it is received by AMCAS no later than two weeks following the deadline specified by the medical school to which you are applying (see below). If you have attended other schools, you must do the same for them. You can begin the online application usually in early May, and it must be completed by dates specified by individual schools.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-medical-school\/article\/participating-medical-schools-deadlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMCAS Medical School Application Deadlines<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-medical-school\/article\/early-decision-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Early Decision Program Information<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It takes more time than you might imagine to complete this application;\u00a0<strong>start early<\/strong>! There are three key factors to keep in mind: accuracy, completeness, and an effective personal statement. You will be provided with an online set of instructions and a worksheet with all the questions to be answered that you can print out. If you have questions about the application, you may contact AMCAS directly (202-828-0600 or by email at <a href=\"mailto:amcas@aamc.org\">amcas@aamc.org<\/a>). The later you wait to ask questions, the more difficult it may be to get a timely response.<\/p>\n<p>All parts of your AMCAS application are important.
