Students from both paths \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/academics\/graduate\/programs\/masters\/geographic-information-science\/\" aria-label=\"Master\u2019s in GIS\">Master\u2019s in GIS<\/a>\u00a0program, offered in collaboration with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/schools\/idce\/\" aria-label=\"International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) Department\">International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) Department<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.clarku.edu\/preview_program.php?catoid=22&amp;poid=4228&amp;returnto=1872\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Accelerated B.A.\/Master of Science Degree Program in GIS (ADP MS-GIS) \">Accelerated B.A.\/Master of Science Degree Program in GIS (ADP MS-GIS) <\/a>\u2014 pursue and collaborate on similar research projects.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"image-content-block__item-title\">Research in the Master\u2019s in GIS Program<\/h2>\n<p>As a student, you\u2019ll work with faculty on research focused on biodiversity and conservation, land change modeling, forest monitoring and fire dynamics, software design and system development, decision science, health and community planning, international development, climate change adaptation, and food security applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Research in the Accelerated B.A.\/M.S. Program<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re a student in the Accelerated B.A.\/M.S. degree program in GIS, you\u2019ll choose one of two tracks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Internship track:<\/strong> You\u2019ll participate in an internship for in-field experience during both semesters of your graduate year to supplement your coursework.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/departments\/geography\/careers-and-internships\/careers-and-internships-for-m-s-students\/\" aria-label=\"Learn more about GIS students\u2019 internships...\">Learn more about GIS students\u2019 internships&#8230;<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Research track:<\/strong> You\u2019ll dive into your area of study through coursework and thesis writing, resulting in a completed master\u2019s thesis at the end of the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whether you are on the internship track or research track, you will have the opportunity for research in courses like the <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/fsangermano\/geog336\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Wildlife Conservation GIS Research Seminar,\">Wildlife Conservation GIS Research Seminar,<\/a> where you can assist the Wildlife Conservation Society with biodiversity projects across the globe, honing your remote sensing, GIS, and ecological research skills.<\/p>\n<h3>Student Research in the Accelerated Degree Program<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students studying geographic information science (GIS) in the Graduate School of Geography have multiple opportunities to conduct research and build their knowledge and skills.
