Geography<\/a> major Nate Kidd has been a fixture on the environmental front. At Clark, he was one of a cohort of students in the Human Environmental Regional Observatory program, which engages in hands-on research to help communities<\/a> find sustainable approaches to the threat of climate change and other environmental challenges. Kidd and his fellow HERO colleagues have helped to \u201cgreen\u201d city neighborhoods, researched the problem of \u201cheat islands\u201d in Worcester, and surveyed city residents\u2019 attitudes toward tree renewal efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kidd will be working on Nantucket island in Massachusetts as a communications and events coordinator with the Nantucket Land & Water Council (NLWC). During the summer, his position will largely be focused on assisting with logistics for NLWC events and will create newsletters, blog posts, and social media materials that bring attention to the organization\u2019s work and initiatives and voice support or concern for new policies on Nantucket that impact the island\u2019s environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
