Major:<\/strong> Art history<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clark Days:<\/strong> Emily\u2019s Clark education spanned countries<\/a>. She researched in Venice for her senior thesis, \u201cThe Birth of a Venetian Venus: From the Page to the Painting,\u201d which examines paintings of the Italian Renaissance, exploring allegorical nude portraiture of the pagan goddess Venus. She also studied art theory in the Netherlands and traveled around Europe to observe works such as the Ghent Altarpiece. Emily is a founding member of the Clark University chapter of the Kappa Pi art honors society<\/a>, and co-founded the Museum Meanings<\/a> club, which facilitates discussions on contemporary museum issues like repatriation, art smuggling, and accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post-Commencement Plans:<\/strong> Emily will continue her studies at the Courtauld Institute of Art<\/a> in London, one of the world\u2019s most prestigious programs of art history, curating, and conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflection:<\/strong> \u201cYou can see the painter\u2019s thoughts through the brushstrokes if you\u2019re looking at a painting in person,\u201d Emily says on the importance of seeing art first-hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
