The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP30, is marking a pivotal moment for global climate action. COP30 marks the first climate summit held in the Amazon, a critical region for climate action. Scientists warn that losing 20-25% of the forest’s original tree cover, just beyond the 17% already lost, could push the ecosystem past a tipping point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 years since Paris<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a decade since the Paris Agreement (2015) \u2014 the landmark global treaty to limit warming to well below 2\u00b0C, ideally 1.5\u00b0C. COP30 is occurring amid the United States’ second withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
