{"id":5,"date":"2022-02-07T19:08:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T19:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/centers\/natural-resource-extraction-and-society\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2026-03-18T19:38:28","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T19:38:28","slug":"projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/centers\/natural-resource-extraction-and-society\/projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Current Project<\/h2>\n<p class=\"intro-copy-with-divider\">Assessing Impacts and Advancing Sustainable Connectivity Between the Pacific and the Amazon<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"red-subheader\">Chancay-Amazon Connection<\/h4>\n<p>The Chancay-Amazon Connection Research Project seeks to promote a comprehensive understanding of the development of the Port of Chancay and its implications for the Amazon, considering the various processes of economic, environmental and territorial transformation it may generate, as well as the potential large-scale impacts on landscapes, social risks, and biodiversity loss in the Amazon region. The research initiative also aims to develop and disseminate recommendations to address potential socio-environmental impacts and to promote more sustainable forms of connectivity between the Pacific and the Amazon, respecting the collective and individual rights of local populations.<\/p>\n<p>Through these actions, the project seeks to ensure that local communities, national and regional authorities, civil society organizations, policymakers, the private sector, and the general public are better informed and more engaged with the implications and dynamics of the development of the Port of Chancay and its associated infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The Chancay-Amazon Connection Project is an initiative developed with the support of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and includes the participation of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers of three partner institutions: the Center for Studies on China and Asia-Pacific (CECHAP) at the University of the Pacific, the Center for Studies on the Extraction of Natural Resources and Society at Clark University (<a href=\"mailto:Extractives@Clark\">Extractives@Clark<\/a>), and the non-governmental organization Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (DAR)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Current Project Assessing Impacts and Advancing Sustainable Connectivity Between the Pacific and the Amazon Chancay-Amazon Connection The Chancay-Amazon Connection Research Project seeks to promote a comprehensive understanding of the development of the Port of Chancay and its implications for the Amazon, considering the various processes of economic, environmental and territorial transformation it may generate, as [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":224,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"templates\/landing.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.7 (Yoast SEO v24.8) -
