Marsh Institute researcher Karen Frey (Geography) was recently elected as Vice-Chair of the Marine Working Group of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). IASC is a non-governmental, international scientific organization that promotes and supports leading-edge interdisciplinary research in order to foster a greater scientific understanding of the Arctic region and its role in the Earth system. Frey has been serving a four-year term on the working group and is one of two U.S. members appointed by the National Academy of Sciences.
