This multi-day conference gathers 33 advanced doctoral students and early post-doctoral scholars from 15 countries, representing a young generation of scholars who will advance Holocaust and genocide research for generations to come.
This panel discussion will explore the transnational nature of humanitarian aid in Myanmar two years after a coup ushered in military rule there, including challenges, dilemmas, and everyday politics of aid and advocacy in Myanmar, including among a growing diaspora of Burmese activists abroad.
The inaugural meeting of the Strassler Center Colloquium on New Research in Genocide Studies will feature Professor Chris Davey, Charles E. Scheidt Professor of Genocide Studies and Genocide Prevention, who will present his work in progress, “Regimes of Memory and Denial in the African Great Lakes region.”
Frances Tanzer, Rose Professor of Holocaust Studies and Modern Jewish History and Culture, will propose an intimate transnational cultural history of the Holocaust and modern Jewish experience by focusing on her own family.
