Frank Armstrong is an important American landscape photographer whose work over six decades has revealed aspects of the American character by focusing on interactions between material culture and the grandeur—and banality—of landscapes across our country. Frank’s teaching is integral to his practice. He has spent the last twenty-one years coaching and mentoring a new generation of photographers at Clark University. As he retires, please join us in celebrating Frank’s artistry and impact at the first of two special events.

Frank Conversations
Tuesday, March 22 @ 7pm
Traina Center for the Arts, 2nd Floor
Clark University

Kristina Wilson, Professor of Art History at Clark University, will moderate a conversation between Frank Armstrong and six of his former students, all successful fine arts photographers who have been profoundly affected by Frank’s teaching and practice. Panelists include:

  • Sarah Bilotta Belclaire, a photographer and writer based in Maine and Oxford, UK where she works for The Magazine ANTIQUES and studies design history.
  • Rachel Loischild, a Boston-based artist and photographer, and professor of photography at Pine Manor College.
  • Greer Muldowney, an artist, photography professor at Boston College, and independent curator based in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • Jasper Muse, an artist and musician based out of Somerville.
  • Eric Nichols, Adjunct Professor at Clark University and Associate Professor at Worcester State University.
  • Catherine Wilcox-Titus, an art historian and photographer teaching at Worcester State University.

Admission is free and open to the public. All attendees are expected to comply with Clark University’s most current vaccination and masking policies.
