Grace Nwachukwu is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geographic Information Science and Remote Sensing at Clark University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy, and a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology. Grace is a Research Intern at the Clark Center for Geospatial Analytics, where she contributes to a pond aquaculture mapping project that integrates GIS, satellite imagery, and machine learning to detect brackish aquaculture encroachment on tropical mangroves and coastal wetlands.
Previously, she served as a GIS & Sustainability Research Intern, supporting watershed-level planning through spatial analysis, demographic-environmental data harmonization, and cartographic design. As a Water Quality Analyst with the Blackstone River Coalition, she led field sampling, laboratory testing, and assessments of key water quality indicators such as dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and nutrient levels.
Grace also brings substantial professional experience as an Environmental/Sustainability Associate, where she spent six years leading pollution baseline surveys, developing climate resilience strategies, and promoting conservation efforts in coastal and aquatic ecosystems. Her work included stakeholder engagement, advancing sustainable development practices, and conducting public outreach to raise awareness about the health impacts of environmental degradation.
Her research and project interests span Water Quality Monitoring, Climate and Land Use Change, Public Health & Environmental Hazards, Conservation GIS, Remote Sensing Applications, and Sustainable Resource Management.
