Volunteer Day: To Clean and Celebrate Earth!

On April 18, the Clark University Center for Geospatial Analytics (Clark CGA) team participated in Volunteer Day at the Hadwen Arboretum, a natural preserve just over a mile from Clark University campus. The afternoon was spent clearing invasive species, removing debris, and preparing the site for community use in the warmer months ahead.

This initiative was held in recognition of Earth Day, aligning with Clark CGA’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and local engagement. Through collective action, the team contributed to maintaining one of Worcester’s vital green spaces—highlighting the importance of preserving the environments where we live, learn, and work.

Clark CGA is proud to support sustainability efforts that extend beyond the lab and classroom. Events like Volunteer Day offer an opportunity to connect with the land, foster community, and put our values into practice.

“Volunteer Day was a meaningful way for our team to give back to the local environment and reflect our shared values in action. We’re grateful to Prof. John Rogan for his long-standing leadership and care of the Hadwen Arboretum—his work makes it possible for the community to engage with this special space in such impactful ways,” says Dr. Hamed Alemohammad, Director of Clark CGA.
