Annual Millennium Leadership conference slated for Nov. 4-6

Clark University will host the 9th Annual Millennium Leadership Conference, “Becoming Tomorrow’s Leaders,” from Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Higgins University Center. The conference features workshops and social events designed to strengthen the networking and leadership skills of college students who identify themselves as African descent, Latino/a, Asian or Native American (ALANA) and their allies.

The program will include:

• Talent Show, from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, in Atwood Hall at the Higgins University Center. (Open to students showing a College ID.)

• Keynote Address at 7:30 p.m. in Tilton Hall, Higgins University Center.  Joshua Fredenburg, a nationally renowned speaker, author and expert on current issues and effective youth leadership strategies, will deliver the keynote address, “Are You America’s Next Top Leader?” Fredenburg will speak about the importance of possessing effective leadership skills for the 21st century. His speech aims to engage, challenge and inspire attendees. (For registrants only.)

• Alumni Panel from noon to 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, in Tilton Hall, Higgins University Center. Clark alumni panelists will include: Ishara Casellas-Katz ’06, Stacey Lawrence ’08, and Hadley Stena Camilus ’03. (For registrants only.)

The size of the Millennium Leadership Conference at Clark has grown steadily over the years. Last year’s conference was attended by over 150 students. The MLC Committee reached out to students on 18 college campuses this year, and expects to host the biggest conference yet, according to Brendan Toussaint, a Clark sophomore and chair of publicity for the student-run conference. The 22-person committee is co-chaired by Clark seniors Robert Rosales and Amelia Najjar.
