What are the English language requirements for Clark and ALCI programs?<\/summary>\n

I\u2019m a Pathway student, what kind of classes do I take?<\/summary>\n

Students in the Graduate Pathway program take both English classes and content courses during their Pathway semester. All together, the students will take 4 class (about 18 classroom hours a week): two content classes for credit and two English classes for noncredit.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m an EAS student, what kind of courses do I take?<\/summary>\n

Students will take a course on reading\/writing and a course on speaking\/listening during each EAS semester.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What are the requirements for completing EAS and Pathway courses?<\/summary>\n

Students in the ALCI program are expected to successfully complete each of their courses before moving on to the next part of their academic program.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complete a level of English for Academic Success, students need to achieve a 75 (C) in both courses.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complete Pathway, students need to achieve an 85 (B) in their content courses and a 75 (C) in their English courses.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How long does it take to complete the ALCI program?<\/summary>\n

To complete the ALCI program and become a regularly matriculated student at Clark, undergraduates must complete EAS level 4 and graduates must complete EAS level 5 or the Pathway semester. Their entry level is assigned based on their English Language test scores, and each level takes a semester to complete. As GPP is not offered over the summer, students are encouraged to consider a summer EAS level 5 semester to begin matriculation in the fall rather than the following spring semester.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Who will my advisor be while I am an ALCI student?<\/summary>\n

While in the American Language and Culture Institute,  your advisor will be Academic Specialist, Nico Gareca, who will specialize in serving ALCI programs. Please email him or visit at the ALCI Office at Jonas Clark Hall 208 with any questions or to set up an appointment.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How do I apply to participate in EAS only?<\/summary>\n

Complete this application<\/a> and select EAS.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Can I live on campus if I am an EAS or Pathway student?<\/summary>\n

Yes, you must apply on the CUWeb. However, housing is limited so you must apply quickly. Otherwise, there are plenty of other housing options in the local Clark neighborhood or downtown Worcester. To learn more about housing at Clark, please visit Residential Life and Housing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Can I use the Clark library, gym, dining halls and other services?<\/summary>\n

Yes! As an ALCI student, you can access everything our campus has to offer!<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Am I allowed to join student clubs and activities as an EAS or Pathway student?<\/summary>\n

Absolutely! While students in EAS and Pathway programs are offered exclusive opportunities to learn more about American culture, they are encouraged to engage with the Clark community whenever they can!
