Alumni Awards

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes and celebrates a Clark graduate who has served as an exemplary leader and volunteer for the University. Typically, but not necessarily, presented to an alumna/us celebrating a Reunion, the award recognizes an individual who has given decades of service to the University. Service categories may include:

  • Distinguished service as a member of the Board of Trustees, Alumni Council, or University committee;
  • Significant and sustained mentorship of University students;
  • Significant and sustained advocacy for the University and its students;
  • Significant and sustained volunteerism to the University community.

The individual selected should generally — but not necessarily — have demonstrated service in at least three categories described above, although in rare cases exceptional service in a single dimension may be sufficient to grant an award.

University Award for Service to Society

In an effort to recognize the contributions Clark alumni routinely make to the world at large, the University Award for Service to Society recognizes and celebrates a Clark graduate who has made extraordinary contributions to society in the years since graduating from Clark.

Typically, but not necessarily, presented to an alumna/us celebrating a Reunion, the Service to Society Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated significant and sustained success in advancing a particular artistic, social, or scientific cause deemed consonant with University values. The absence of specific criteria is intentional and reflects the broad range of contributions University graduates make every day in the arts, sciences, and humanities.
