What courses should I take in my first year to see if this is the right major for me?<\/summary>\n

Every major within the School of Business, including the Business Administration major, requires
the completion of the same 6 courses. We recommend you take two to three of the
following classes to discover if management is the right major for you: MGMT100,
BAN104, ACCT101, BCOM170, QBUS110, ECON010 (though MGMT100 is the best
course for an intro to the Business Administration program)<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there any courses I am required or strongly encouraged to take in my first semester if I
know I want to declare this major? Do any AP credits count for these requirements?<\/summary>\n

While we do feel that MGMT 100 would be the best class to take in the first semester,
any of the above-mentioned classes would be a good fit in your first semester. Should
you receive a 4 or 5 on the AP Macroeconomics exam, that will take the place of the
ECON 010 course in our major.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What is the latest semester that I can start this major and still graduate in four years?<\/summary>\n

For Business Administration, students can start the major classes and declare their major by the end of sophomore year and still finish as this major requires 13 classes to be completed.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

I am interested in many different subjects. What other majors, minors, or concentrations go
well with this major?<\/summary>\n

Business pairs with absolutely every major! Understanding how businesses operate and how to manage people is a skill everyone can use. However, we have a lot of students pairing their major with the Economics, Psychology, and Interactive Media program.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What else do you want incoming first year students to know about this major?<\/summary>\n

All of our majors share a common business core. Students do not need to know what specific focus area of business they want to study. They should start taking some of the business core classes, and that will expose them to the subjects to help them decided their specific major. Also, studying business is not all about maximizing profits for companies! These skills are needed in non-profit, for-profit, governmental, social services, ALL organizations. Our students go on to a large variety of careers.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
