Bob,
I just read your book and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed
it and learned from it. As a young person, the rich historical
analysis really helped me to contextualize the current movement.
I can see better how different organizations fit in- and what
the strengths are of each. Your analysis of the trajectory
of union busting was made with extreme clarity. I know that
I have become a better teacher because of it. You address
worker power and the attack by corporations and government
upon that power. There has come a point where in certain struggles-
consumers and students are all that workers have as a tool
to fight back. It shouldn't be like that.
I
was also touched by the thorough research- but at the same
time the accessibility that is absent in much of academia.
This is truly a "movement" book that I will recommend
to USAS students and others to learn about the history of
worker struggle and what solidarity has meant and what it
can mean.
Thanks,
