Joseph Sarkis

Eco-efficiency and competitiveness: Methodologies and techniques for a planned approach (Italian Title: Eco-efficienza e competitività Metodologie e tecniche per un approccio pianificato), edited by E. DiCristofaro and P. Trucco, Il Sole 24 Ore Publishers, Milan, Italy, Chapter 9, to appear 2002.

This chapter provides an overview of the various issues facing the theory and practice of green supply chain management. It begins with the definition of green supply chain management and reviews of practices in that area. The green supply chain, as defined in this chapter, is composed of in-bound processes and logistics, manufacturing and production materials management, out-bound logistics and distribution and reverse logistics. Issues facing these areas are detailed. In addition, some of the issues and a model focusing on reverse logistics and selection of reverse logistics providers forms a major section as discussion.
