Ron Eastman's team at Clark Labs is beginning to focus on the emerging worldwide trade in "carbon credits"—a means of balancing the impact of planned reductions in carbon emissions, otherwise known as greenhouse gasses.

Together, students and faculty are tailoring Clark Labs' Idrisi software to help predict trends in deforestation, and the impact on carbon emissions. Their collective effort will help provide the world with a concrete baseline for calculations in the burgeoning carbon credit marketplace.
