An asterisk (*) next to an item on this schedule indicates a required activity for all incoming students. Your Peer Advisor will sign your registration sheet to confirm that you have completed each required activity. This completed sheet will be required in order for you to register for your fall classes. Please carry it with you and try not to lose it!

The Student Accounts Office located on the 2nd floor of 20 Downing Street will be open from 9:00am - 4:00pm on
Wednesday, August 23rd. Students who are required to clear financially must do so between 9:00am and 4:00pm at the Student Accounts Office. All students must clear all holds in order to register for classes. Students and parents should feel free to stop by if they have any general questions about their student account.

Communication and Partnership: How You Can Help Us to Provide a Positive Clark Experience for Your Son/Daughter - Atwood Hall, Daniels Theater
So today you’re having to ‘let go’ a little bit…your daughter/son is moving on
to another important piece of her/his life…and will definitely still need you,
but in changing ways. The Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students/Wellness Outreach Coordinator and Director of Residential Life and Housing will talk with you about some of the changes you might expect to encounter in your relationship with your son or daughter. We’ll also talk about the importance of your partnership and the parameters of communication with us.
Financial Aid - Jefferson Academic Center, Room 218
The Financial Aid Process is complete for this year - or is it? During this workshop we will discuss what happens in the Financial Aid Office now that your student is enrolled. Also, a brief outline of what to expect in the future regarding financial aid information and useful resources on college financing options will be discussed.
Campus Safety – Jefferson Academic Center, Room 222
The Chief of University Police (UP) will describe the role UP plays on campus. The discussion will focus on the Residence Hall access system and how it works, the fire safety program and the crime prevention team. The Chief and his officers welcome your questions and will provide ample opportunity for discussion.
Academic Support Services – Jefferson Academic Center, Room 320
The Associate Dean of the College, Director of the Writing Center and Writing Program, Director of Career Services, and the Associate Director of Academic Advising will offer this program to discuss the Academic Support Services. With 29 majors, 25 minors, 11 concentrations, and the opportunity to design one’s own major, Clark students have a myriad of degree options from which to choose. How do they make that choice? One major resource is the student’s Faculty Advisor. This session will introduce you to some of Clark’s academic services. We’ll begin with the academic advising program which pairs students with full-time faculty members from their first day on campus. We examine how the Writing Center can assist students with their writing at all levels. With an eye toward life after Clark, we’ll explore the opportunities offered by Career Services and hear how the Clark Career Exploration Program can help students sort out career decisions.

In this session, parents of students with disabilities will have the
opportunity to meet with Jane Daigneault, the Coordinator of Disability
Services. Jane will discuss academic accommodations that students may
access and the process for doing this. She will also discuss the academic

Formal Analysis Placement Test - Jefferson Academic Center, Room 320
This test is required for students who received email notification over the summer that they MUST take the Formal Analysis placement test. Please ask your Peer Advisor if you are not certain. Your score will determine whether or not you will need to enroll in IDND 17, "Foundations of Quantitative Thinking", or may select a Formal Analysis Course. Please don't forget a #2 pencil. Scientific calculators are required. Your Peer Advisor will provide you with your test results.

All students who are interested in taking MUSIC 110: Rudiments of Music or MUSIC 121: Theory I during the 2006-07 academic year are required to take the Music Theory Placement Test. Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. Following these panel discussions, small group discussions will provide an opportunity for you and your peers to explore ideas and respond to questions raised by faculty members, University staff and Peer Advisors.

During this PA group meeting, there will be a follow-up discussion of Spin the Bottle and all first year and transfer students will be asked to complete the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) survey of incoming college students.The CIRP survey is the nation's largest and oldest empirical study of higher education.More than 11 million incoming students at 1800 colleges and universities across the country have participated in this annual survey since its inception in 1966.

Chief Goulet from University Police will discuss how to be safe on an urban campus. Chief Goulet will also describe for you the services and programs that UP offers throughout the year.
Representatives from Information Technology Services (ITS) will provide information about their services, and acclimate you to Clark technology.
Worcester Scene and Unseen: A presentation that will show you the cultural and social opportunities in Worcester and enable you to learn more about the nationally-recognized neighborhood revitalization effort called the University Park Partnership. Professor Douglas Johnson from the Geography Department will open the session with an architectural and historical perspective on the buildings in the neighborhood and at Clark . Jack Foley, Vice President for Government and Community Affairs, will speak about Clark 's partnership with the community and the opportunities for students. Kay Bassett, Special Assistant to the President and Professor Tina Zlody
from the Department of Visual and Performing Arts will offer a virtual tour of
some of the cultural and social gems in Worcester . Bus tours that will provide
more detailed encounters with these topics will run today from 1-3 p.m. from outside Atwood Hall.
The Bon Appetit staff will introduce you to our dining services and
discuss the meal plan options.
Looking ahead to life after Clark ? Career Services will provide information about the services they offer which will help prepare you for finding a career once when you graduate.

Passing on Plagiarism - Academic Integrity Program
To cheat or not to cheat, that is
the question. The answer may appear straightforward but avoiding the pitfalls
of plagiarism requires being well equipped with an understanding
of the consequences for your actions and the tools available for making other
choices. In this interactive workshop, you will learn how to make choices that
will help protect you from inadvertently violating Clark's academic integrity
policy. Focusingon learning as the richest aspect of a college education, we
will discuss challenges to fulfilling this goal and strategies for succeeding in
your academic career.

Clark University is one of hundreds of institutions nationwide taking a new approach to alcohol education. Clark requires every member of the first-year class to complete AlcoholEdu for College – a science-based course taken by tens of thousands of students each year. The course aims not to preach but rather to educate you about alcohol and its effects on the mind and body. Whether or not you drink, AlcoholEdu for College empowers you to make well-informed decisions and better cope with the drinking behavior of peers.AlcoholEdu must be completed by September 12, 2006 .
