All About Your Academic Program
Congratulations! You have accepted our invitation to join Clark University. If you are like many of our new students, you have questions about getting started on your academic studies (e.g. selecting classes, looking at majors). These pages will answer those questions and help you make the right academic decisions for your bright future.

When do I start on my major?
The number of courses required for a major at Clark can range from as few as 10 to as many as 19. If you are interested in some of the more intensive majors (for example, studio art, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, management, physics) you should begin work in your first semester; however, most students should feel comfortable using their first few semesters to explore various academic disciplines throughout the liberal arts. Students may formally declare their majors in the first semester of their sophomore year and must declare a major by the end of the sophomore year. View a list of Clark's majors.

Can I also declare a minor?
You may minor in certain approved areas outside your major by completing a minimum of six specified courses in a particular discipline. Students may also choose an interdisciplinary formal concentration in Asian studies, environmental studies, ethics and public policy, Jewish studies, peace studies, race and ethnic studies, urban development and social change, and women's studies. Students must declare their intention to complete a minor or concentration by the end of their junior year. View a list of Clark's minors.
