Office of Study Abroad and Study Away Programs

Current Study Abroad Students

Dear Clarkie Abroad,

We hope you're having an enriching and challenging semester or year abroad. We've compiled some information, tips and policies that might be useful to you while you are overseas. If you have an issue overseas that cannot be resolved by your host international office or program advisors, you should contact us or your faculty advisor directly when the issue occurs. Please remember that it is much harder to resolve an issue - academic, social, health-related or otherwise - late in the semester or after you return than it is to discuss it when it occurs.

  • In case of emergency, first contact your program director/advisor abroad or use the information on the wallet card we gave you before you left. If your issue cannot be resolved or handled by the program director/advisor abroad, contact us during working hours (weekdays, 9:00 - 5:00 Eastern Time) at 001-508-793-7363; at all other times, use the Emergency Contact List. (It can also be found in your Clark Pre-Departure Handbook).

  • Shortly after you arrive, make sure to email studyabroad@clarku.edu with your overseas contact information, and let us know that you've arrived safely.

  • You should already have a copy of the Clark Pre-Departure Handbook with you; if not, please let us know so we can email it to you.

  • If you change/add/drop any courses while you're abroad, please make sure to first email your faculty advisor to confirm the change, and then copy us on all correspondence. Remember that you cannot take an extra course abroad, and there may be implications for dropping a course, as well.

  • We'll be emailing you twice during the semester with updates from Clark. For the first mailing, you'll receive a copy of our new E-Newsletter which has some excerpts from the Scarlet and student stories from abroad. If you'd like to submit a short article, story, and/or photos, please let us know!
