When Two Worlds Meet: Business and the Arts

Distinguished panelists to discuss possibilities, experiences, Oct. 29 at Clark U

Clark University's Graduate School of Management, the Worcester Cultural Coalition, and the Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston are sponsoring "When Two Worlds Meet: Business and the Arts," a panel discussion from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Grace Conference Room in the Higgins University Center, 950 Main St.

Panel participants include Allen Fletcher, Worcester's own artist-entrepreneur; Suzanne Merritt, consultant, artist, and creator of Polaroid's creativity lab; Chandu Shah, Massachusetts Minority Businessperson of the Year, poet, and playwright; and Dennis Sullivan, Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, and an executive at Fidelity Investments.

Dan Pink, author of "A Whole New Mind," caused a stir several years ago when he proclaimed in the Harvard Business Review that the MFA is the new MBA. That certainly has not happened, but should it? How do people blend/rationalize/combine careers in business with other careers or a love for the arts? Do the arts influence the business career, or vice versa? The panel will explore these and other questions from their perspectives of having created careers that balance the business and arts fields.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Clark's Graduate School of Management, at 508-793-7543.
