Clark now sharing video, news via YouTube and Twitter

WORCESTER, Mass.— Videos that give insight into the Clark University community—from “Where to Grab Grub” to “Researching Sea Ice”—and footage that captures Clark students in action—whether participating in a “Stair-a-thon” or belting out songs a cappella—are now a part of the Clark University channel Clark University channel at YouTube EDU. Clark's channel joins more than 100 other college and university channels that feature videos that range from the educational to the entertaining.

According to the YouTube Blog on March 26, YouTube EDU was launched "as a volunteer project sparked by a group of employees who wanted to find a better way to collect and highlight all the great educational content being uploaded to YouTube by colleges and universities."

Clark's YouTube channel contains a growing archive of videos of interest to current and prospective Clark students. Videos feature brief interviews with students about their Clark experience and turn a spotlight on a select few student clubs and organizations. Several clips allow a more in-depth look into unique academic programs and opportunities, or capture recent events and speakers from Clark institutes and research centers.

The newest addition to the Clark channel is an award-winner—a spoof by Clark junior Adam LeFebvre called “Call Yourself a Clarkie.” LeFebvre won Clark's Student Video Contest. His prize: a Flip Video camera, one of the newest pocket-sized point-and-shoot video cameras on the market.

Four Clark students currently work with the University's Marketing & Communications Department to produce videos for the site. These student videographers typically use a Flip camera to shoot video. Other students are encouraged to submit videos to Clark Voices for review and possible posting at any time. Since its launch last fall, more than 30 videos have been produced by Clark students for the site.

Twitter is another social media tool now used by the University. Tweets about Clark faculty, students and alumni, news and events are posted at Clark Matters. The image representing the University on this social media site is that of Jonas Clark, the University's founder.
